Plastic scintillator sheets consists of a solid solution of organic scintillating molecules in a polymerized solvent. The ease with which they can be shaped and fabricated makes plastic scintillators an extremely useful form of organic scintillator.
A typical plastic scintillator has a wavelength of maximum emission at around 425 nm. Plastic scintillators are characterized by a relatively large light output - typically 25-30% of NaI(Tl) - and a short decay time of around 2 ns. This makes the material suited for fast timing measurements.
All plastic scintillators are sensitive to X-rays, gamma rays, fast neutrons and charged particles.
You can obtain as finished plastic scdetector assemblies. These incorporate light guides, photomultiplier tubes, special radiation entrance windows, light tight wrappings, and electronics. Integrally mounted or demountable detectors can be designed to meet your specifications.

Finish for 2 parallel large surface:
“BEST” As cast surface finish is optically clear and quite flat. Sheet material is cast to thickness required for the order between glass sheets, so a glass-like polished surface is the result.
Diamond Milled cast faces (for 2 parallel large surface) Finish is flatter than as-cast, optically clear (but not as good as as-cast). Small tool marks may be visible under magnification.
Finish for edges:
“BEST” Diamond Milled edges - Surface finish is optically clear and quite flat.
Rough or Saw-cut (for edges) - The finish is rough and NOT optically clear. The customer will need to do further processing.
