Helium-3 neutron detectors are largely sensitive to thermal neutrons and are typically used with a neutron moderator. For this reason, Helium-3 proportional counters are well-suited for measuring substrates high in hydrogen, such as water and oil, where the substrate being measured acts as the moderator.
The Helium-3 neutron detectors are custom-designed to meet specific customer requirements, including extreme conditions such as oil well logging. Electrical characteristics, sensitivity and response time can all be tailored to suit custom applications.
|Typical design||Diameters (inch)||Lengths||Operating voltage||Fill pressure||Connectors|
|He-3 Tube||1, 1.5, 2, 2.25"||2" to 72"||850-1400V
(depends on fill)
|2-20 atm||HN, SHV, MHV, BNC, SMB|
|Notes:||Higher pressure = higher voltage||Right-angle configurations available|
